What is Medicaid?

When you apply for George or food stamps it is a good idea and I strongly recommend that you also apply for Medicaid.

Medicaid is a medical assistance program that

Helps individuals who can’t afford medical care it will

Pay for some or all of their medical bills.

If you are unable to pay for medical care, Medicaid may be able to help you get the care

Who qualifies?

Medicaid requirements may include your age; whether you are

Pregnant, disabled, blind, or aged; your income and assets,

And whether you are a U.S. citizen or a qualified alien.

Non-qualified aliens or undocumented immigrants may be

Eligible for emergency assistance only.

How to Apply

You can apply for Medicaid Online by going to http://dfcs.gov or you can do so in person (by

Going to the local DFCS, health department or Social

Security office), or by requesting forms to be mailed to

You that you can fill out at home.

What Will You Need

When you apply for Medicaid it is pretty much the same process as applying for George or food stamps you will need to show proof of income expenses and medical notes if pregnant. When you fill out your application it will be reviewed by caseworker and you will be contacted. You will then get a letter in the mail stating if you need to provide more information.

You will get a card in the mail that you can provide to your medical providers so that they may bill and receive payment.
